Hammer / cutting mill

Small grinder for large feed quantities

The HM1-L hammer mill can be converted from a hammer to a granulator

Our hammer mill can be used for Crushing & Milling soft to medium-hard, brittle or fibrous materials.
The machine can also be fitted with a rotor with cutting tools so that the range of applications can be extended to include plastic products.

The hammer mill has the following features

  • A replaceable rotor with
    • Pendulum suspended rackets
    • or cutting blades, which can be replaced individually.
  • Easily removable grate basket or perforated plates to ensure the required grinding fineness
  • Replaceable wear plates and crushing/cutting bars in the grinder housing
  • Housing door for easy inspection/cleaning of the grinding chamber and for changing from beaters to cutting tools
  • Frequency inverter-driven direct drive.
  • Tamper-proof feed hopper
  • Collection container can be removed via quick-release fastener
  • Instead of the collection container, a hopper with suction connection can also be used as an option. A vacuum cleaner and cyclone can be used to achieve higher throughput rates, particularly with very light products such as chamfers and plastics.

Areas of application & machine types

The hammer mill is suitable for Crushing & Milling soft to medium-hard materials (hardness grades according to F. Mohs 2 – 5). These include, among others: Agglomerates, coal, limestone, gypsum and slag, metal chips, recycling products. Our mill is designed for Crushing & Milling larger sample quantities and is absolutely trouble-free in operation.

Operating behavior & mechanical features

In hammer mills, the material is drawn into the grinding chamber by the hammers suspended from the high-speed rotor. Crushing & Milling is mainly carried out by impact and impact stress in the area of the grate basket. The ground material remains in the grinding chamber until it has reached the required fineness and can pass through the discharge grate.

The final fineness of the finished product is influenced in both types of grinder by changing the grate gap width and the circumferential speed.

In contrast to hammer mills, hammer impact mills have an additional impact chamber in the upper part of the housing. The fed material is caught by the hammers of the rotor and thrown against the impact bars of the impact chamber.  The pre-crushed material enters the lower grinding chamber and is mainly re-crushed on the grate basket.
