The SHS really comes into its own when it comes to special process requirements: Long retention times, low solids loss in the filtrate, low grain breakage/abrasion, intensive washing of the solids cake, minimization of wear.

This makes it an excellent separation aggregate not only for many crystalline bulk products such as sodium or potassium chloride, sodium, ammonium or iron sulphate. It is also an ideal solution for processing “exotic” products such as granules, seeds, foodstuffs, fibers, animal bone meal and perhaps even your product.

The SIEBTECHNIK TEMA SHS pusher centrifuge has established itself and proven itself as a modern high-performance unit in many industries. It reliably performs its separation task in crystalline applications. In addition, SIEBTECHNIK TEMA is one of the leading suppliers of pusher centrifuges for polymer products.

The basis for this success are individual design variants that fulfill complex separation tasks. All SIEBTECHNIK TEMA pusher centrifuges guarantee very good results, including low residual moisture, high solids yield and excellent washing efficiency. Particular attention is paid to the gentle processing of the solids. SIEBTECHNIK TEMA offers customized solutions, especially in the feed and discharge area, where the product flow is accelerated or slowed down again.

Operating behavior & mechanical features

The pusher centrifuge belongs to the group of continuously operating filtration centrifuges. The solids are retained as a cake on a slotted screen basket and transported axially in stages towards the solids discharge housing by an oscillating movement of the moving floor. With the pusher centrifuge, the transport speed of the solids cake is lower than with the screen scroll centrifuge, for example, and the dwell time of the centrifuged material in the bowl is correspondingly longer.

The size of the solid particles to be separated is preferably over 80 μm. However, the thick, closed filter cake also ensures good removal of fine solids (self-filtration).
Both main features – the long retention time and the closed filter cake – therefore also enable economical post-dewatering of solids with a high proportion of fines
that have been pre-dewatered on filters of all types.

For many applications, the outer drum is cylindrically-conical (ZK).
This makes the difficult separation of gusset capillary liquid much easier. It also reduces the thrust energy required to transport the solids.

The filling system (patent no. DE 195 46 019 C1) with acceleration cone and ring cup ensures extremely gentle pre-acceleration and even distribution of the product. Even under unfavourable feeding conditions, the mechanical load on the machine can be minimized, especially with regard to wear.

An additional integrated sieve element enables product pre-thickening if required and therefore optimized filter cake formation.
The filtrate drain is generally designed so that the mother liquor and washing liquid can be drained separately.

Equipment variants

While the general trend is towards standardization, SIEBTECHNIK TEMA focuses on the details. Our specialists design and construct the special machine for and often together with the customer on a product-specific basis. This enables optimum efficiency to be achieved and individual requirements to be met.

SIEBTECHNIK TEMA has consistently developed a range of pusher centrifuge variants for a wide variety of applications, enabling them to be precisely tailored to the specific application. Up to 14 sizes with nominal drum diameters from 250 mm to 1200 mm are available for different throughput rates.

SIEBTECHNIK TEMA pusher centrifuges are built with one to four-stage rotors, depending on the application and dewaterability of the product.

Depending on the application, we manufacture all parts that come into contact with the centrifuged material from corrosion-resistant austenitic steels, special bronzes, Hastelloy, nickel, titanium and similar materials.

In the case of abrasive feed material, we protect vulnerable zones with wear-resistant materials and coatings.

The Drive

Specially designed drive systems for optimal separation results

The solution to a separation problem depends on the drive of the centrifuge. The centrifugal force required for solid-liquid separation is determined by the speed of the bowl or screen. To achieve the right speed for optimum separation results, it is often necessary to keep the speeds variable. Our specialists will customize the required drive control for your application.

In screen scroll centrifuges and decanters, the differential speed of the solids conveying screw to the bowl is also critical. It determines the residence time of the solids in the centrifuge and therefore the separation efficiency.

The correct differential speed for your separation task is determined by selecting the right gear. The differential speed can be constant or variable. In the latter case, the backdrive is used, where the otherwise fixed input shaft of the gear is also driven. If you want to keep the screw speed completely independent of the bowl speed, hydraulic drives (Viscotherm) or two-stage gearboxes with an upstream differential planetary stage are used.

The drive system is continuously monitored to ensure the operational safety of your centrifuge. Overspeed, overcurrent and slippage are detected and reported to the machine control system for action.

Only a drive system specially designed for your separation task will lead to optimum separation results.

Explosion protection | Inertization

Inerting our machines and systems can be necessary for a variety of reasons. In many industrial processes, it is necessary for safety reasons to reliably prevent the formation of an explosive atmosphere caused by dust or gases (ATEX).

In addition, it may be necessary to seal and blanket product spaces with inert gas, such as nitrogen (N₂) or carbon dioxide (CO₂), to prevent oxidation and maintain product quality.

Hygenic Design | CIP

for processes with the highest hygienic requirements

The name SIEBTECHNIK TEMA is inseparably connected with dewatering tasks under the highest hygienic requirements. The separation of breadcrumbs from frying oil at temperatures of approx. 200°C with the SHORTBOWL decanter centrifuge, the centrifugation of lactose crystals for the production of baby food with the SHORTBOWL decanter centrifuge and the CONTURBEX screen scroll centrifuge or the production of high-purity inorganic salts with our CONTURBEX and pusher centrifuges are just a few examples. Design features include technical separation of the drive and process areas of the centrifuge, advanced sealing systems that are easy to clean by CIP.

To optimize centrifuges for hygienic applications or in areas where CIP must prevent cross-contamination, we use riboflavin tests to verify and optimize cleaning results.

In-house developed and USDA-certified CIP nozzles, in-house developed hygienic fittings, special hygienic surfaces or our sophisticated USDA-compliant sealing technology make many dewatering tasks possible with our centrifuges.
