SIEBTECHNIK GmbH in Germany is the Technology Center of our SIEBTECHNIK TEMA group. Founded in 1922, it is based in the heart of the Ruhr area and the group’s main production site.
1922
Despite unfavorable circumstances – the occupation of the Ruhr was imminent, reparation payments had considerably weakened the German economy and inflation of unknown proportions was expected – Wilhelm Heinrich Steinhaus founded the company W. Steinhaus & Co. GmbH (SIEBTECHNIK GmbH since 1930).
1945 -1949
The first years are characterized by a steady expansion of the production program and in-house production. The in-house production of vibrating screens and dewatering centrifuges for fine coal begins in 1945, followed in 1949 by the construction of the first “KONTURBEX” screen scroll centrifuge.
1950 – 1959
With the expansion of the production program to include laboratory and grinding equipment, the existing workshops become too small. New production halls and the test institute are built on Weseler Straße in the Mülheim harbor area. This allows the product range to be further expanded. In 1959, the first Decanter centrifuge – solid bowl is built. The administration moves to the building at Solbad Raffelberg.
1960 -1973
After the death of Wilhelm Heinrich Steinhaus in 1960, the group of companies is initially managed by his wife and later by a holding company.
But even after the death of the company founder, SIEBTECHNIK GmbH continues to develop successfully. In the early 1970s, the product range was expanded to include sampling devices, pusher centrifuges and large screening machines.
1974 – 1990
In 1974, Robert Steinhaus, great-nephew of the company founder, joins the management team. Building on the corporate concept of his great-uncle, he initiates the phase of a stronger international orientation of the company with great commitment. Together with the steadily growing group of companies, Robert Steinhaus develops SIEBTECHNIK GmbH to its current size and global significance. In 1986, SIEBTECHNIK GmbH builds the world’s largest coal sampling plant in Qinhuangdao / PR China.
1991 -2000
The 1990s are characterized by innovation and growth. While the success story of the “old” KONTURBEX reaches its peak at the time with a major order for 17 H 1000 centrifuges for a potash project, SIEBTECHNIK is able to present several new developments with the CONTHICK, TWIN CONE and TURBO SCREEN centrifuges and decanters.
2001 -2011
In 2001, Robert Steinhaus retired from management on reaching the age of 65. However, he continues to support the company in an advisory capacity.
His son, Christian Steinhaus, initially joins the management of Hein, Lehmann Trenn- und Fördertechnik GmbH, Krefeld, after completing his studies.
In 2006, he joined the management of Siebtechnik GmbH as the 4th generation.
2012 – 2021
The delivery of 40 high-performance centrifuges to the Chinese customer Qinghai Potash Production (QPP) in 2012 and the follow-up order for a further 20 machines in 2014 marks another milestone in the history of SIEBTECHNIK GmbH.
The ultra-modern centrifuge technology center in Mülheim is also being built during this time. The entire construction project comprises the new construction and conversion of 6,000 m² of office and hall space.
In order to make the company’s international market presence more transparent, the umbrella brand “SIEBTECHNIK TEMA” was introduced in 2019. Since then, SIEBTECHNIK GmbH and 8 other sister companies have been operating under a uniform corporate identity.
2022 – Today
Just in time for the company’s 100th anniversary, SIEBTECHNIK TEMA is the world’s first manufacturer to introduce an app control system for Laboratory Equipment.
In the centrifuge segment, projects in the lithium and battery materials areas will be further expanded.
In 2023, SIEBTECHNIK TEMA will become the exclusive sales partner for the entire range of COMI CONDOR peeler centrifuges for battery material applications, thereby expanding its portfolio in this segment.
